White tea can be consumed all day, but considering its relaxing effect, it is best consumed in the evening, while people suffering from high blood pressure are recommended to drink it throughout the day. It contains a very small proportion of theine (caffeine) and is suitable for almost all population groups.
The daily dose varies from person to person, but 3-4 cups of white tea have an exceptional antioxidant effect, especially if consumed within 45 minutes after preparation.
White tea – proper preparation
The preparation of white tea is almost identical to the preparation of green tea. The finished drink has a pale golden color, a mild and refreshing taste that is best not spoiled by additives such as sugar and milk.
Water temperature:
After boiling in the kettle, the water is allowed to cool for about 5 minutes to reach the optimum temperature of 70 °C.
Amount of white tea:
– 1 teaspoon of white tea is added to 2.5–3 dcl of water
– 1 tablespoon of white tea is added to 1 liter of water.
Keeping white tea in water:
White tea is kept in water/strainer covered between 3-5 minutes, and after that it is strained. During these few minutes, antioxidants (catechins) come to the surface and have a better effect on the body when the tea is drunk.
It is interesting that a cup of white tea provides the same effect of cleansing the body from toxins as 12 glasses of squeezed orange juice, which (among other things) puts it on the pedestal of all teas.
White tea should not be drunk with sugar (sweetened) because it way reduces its effectiveness. If you really must sweeten it, add honey or palm sugar, some kind of brown sugar or pure maple syrup to the tea.
White teas and their average price in Split Tea House is around HRK 90 for 100 grams, which is enough for white tea consumption for approximately 22 days/1L per day.
