White tea, an excellent antioxidant and one of the healthiest types of tea in general. It got its name from the silvery down that covers the buds for harvesting, and turns white when the tea dries. Young leaves and buds are harvested just before the buds open and oxidation begins.
It is drunk preventively because it strengthens the immune system and has a beneficial effect on the human body. Many of the benefits of consuming white tea are identical to the listed benefits of consuming green tea. Unlike green tea, white tea has minimal astringency in its taste, i.e. its taste is milder, softer, less grassy.
